Images can be manipulated to enhance their appearance. How this is done depends on the medium chosen for engraving. Below are suggestions and examples. You can click on any image to enlarge it. Use your browser's "BACK" button to return to this page.
1. Reversing the image: Any image can easily be reversed, so it faces the opposite direction as in the example below. To request this, just write REVERSE IMAGE on the engraving design section of the order form. (Example used is "Ballet 2")
2. Inverting the image: Any medium which will have a dark appearance and laser engraves to a light color may look best with and inverted image. This means that the black is turned to white and white is turned to black, like a photographic negative. On a dark background, this leaves the dark areas alone, while engraving all areas that are light colored. We recommend that inverted images be used only on dark items, such as dark glass and dark acrylic. On light colored items the finished product will look like a negative. To request this, write "Invert Image" on the engraving design section of the order form. For our next several examples, we'll use the "Mare & Foal" Image.
3. Using Borders: Some media requires a border around the image. Our inlaid boxes are a good example. The border that is selected should compliment the image it will surround. We currently offer five border options: Oval, Tall Oval, Square, Rectangle and Heart. Examples of each are below. To request a specific border shape, specify it on the order form.
